Workman Hurt In Fall From Utility Pole

Littleton. -- J. E. Crumpler power line employee on a Rural Electrification Administration project near here, was seriously injured yesterday afternoon when a pole on which he was working broke and he fell to the ground.

He was taken to the Roanoke Rapids Hospital immediately. and authorities there said today he is suffering from serious injuries to his neck and back.

According to fellow employees who took him to the hospital Crumpler was working at the top of a 35-foot light pole which broke near the top and he fell to the ground, landing directly on his head.

Crumpler, whose home address is route four Fayetteville, had only been employed on the REA job here for two days when the accident occurred.

At the hospital it was said the extent of his injuries have not been fully determined, however authorities said his condition is still considered serious.
