The Editors.—There has been and still is, so much betting on elections, that no reliance is to be placed on rumors, as they come in from different portions of the State, and are passed around as authentic. We shall commence to-morrow the publication of the official returns as received at the office of the Secretary of State, adding the vote of each parish, as received. The 'mouth of Red River' seems to have assumed considerable political importance. We hear those who are exceedingly anxious for more reasons than one, to know how the State is going; say: Wickliffe will come out of the mouth of Red River with 500 majority; whilst others say that it will be just the other way. Red River seems to have in its throat the fiat of victory. When the result is known it will be quite as well to attribute the success to the mouth of the Red River, as to the voice of the people.
