President Roosevelt and Henry A. Wallace will receive the support of farmers who were formerly Republican and farmers now registered as Republicans, according to Ralph Davis, Newark, Rt. 5, who was recently appointed chairman of the Licking County committee for agriculture.
"Our committee, affiliated with the National Committee for Agriculture, is non-partisan. We are interested in the welfare of agriculture, not merely in politics. Republican and Democratic farmers have made up their minds that they will refuse to vote for the Power Trust candidate, and instead they will vote for Roosevelt and Wallace. They gave the farmers a chance to develop the farm program which has meant so much for this county," the chairman said.
He stated the record of voting in Congress over a 20-year period shows that whereas 83 per cent of the Democrats voted for major farm measures, only 39 per cent of the Republicans voted for major agricultural legislation. The county chairman said the non-partisan county committee is for Roosevelt and Wallace because they gave agriculture the farm program and only they can be relied upon to carry it forward.
