On Thursday a young Fellow came into the George Inn, Mr. Baker's, near St. George's Fields, in a wet Condition, and his Horse seeming much tir'd; and hanging his Coat to dry by the Fireside, a Pistol was found in one of the Pockets, on which being question'd he drew another, and swore he wou'd blow any Man's Brains out that should molest him; but being soon disarm'd, he was seiz'd and carried before Sir John Lade, who committed him on Suspicion to the new Goal. He said on his Examination that he was a Coachmaker, and had been out to take his Pleasure; but he is thought to belong to the Knot of Highwaymen who, for some Time, have infested the Roads about Surrey, and they are in great Hopes that he will make a Confession and discover his Accomplices.
