Full Text

VENICE, June 15. It is reported that the Russians have penetrated into Achaia, formerly Boeotia, by the famous isthmus of Corinth, and that they are in possession of the city of that name, formerly the most celebrated, the most voluptuous, and the most ornamented, of any in Greece. The Turks opposed their passage in vain; they were beaten every where. If this news is confirmed it will destroy all the accounts that have been published of their almost total destruction in the Morea.

June 23. All that we can hear from the Morea is that eleven Turkish vessels, called sultanas, have anchored between Scio and Smyrna, where they wait the arrival of the rest of the Ottoman fleet: that the Russians have abandoned all the places they occupied in the Morea, except Navarino, in order to go and meet the enemy's fleet with their whole force, so that we expect soon to hear of a sea fight.
