Full Text
The fiendish San Francisco Report instead of commiserating our climatic condition, poketh fun at our calamities in the following heartless language: "Oranges are thick on the trees in Genoa, Nevada, roses are in bloom in Carson and they expect a most magnificent assessment crop in Virginia City and Belmont. At Austin ruby-silver ore is growing on the wild plum trees, and when the water in Pony Canyon gets high enough they expect to run the Manhattan grist mill and turn out a grist for the proprietors. At Candelaria the chlorides are building and promise a big crop, and at Winnemucca, dressed beef is blossoming on the refrigerator car, and at Gold Hill there is water enough to irrigate all the crops in the Great Basin. If capital would only exert itself to get this water to the surface, Nevada might be a great agricultural State."
