By Letters in Town from Barbados (via Rhode-Island) we learn, that on the 14th ultimo at Night, a most terrible Fire happened at Bridge Town on that Island, which burnt with great Fury two Days and an half, in which Time above 600 Dwelling-Houses, besides great Numbers of Warehouses and other Buildings were consumed, and what adds greatly to the Calamity is, that One Hundred White People, and between three and four Hundred Negroes, lost their Lives :—The whole of Broadstreet from the Stepping Stones down below Mr. Cobham's, and all one side of Jew-Street, up as far as the Church Yard is burnt down.—It is said the Houses which were destroyed by this Accident, rented for 30,000 l. Currency.
