Holy Ghost, (knocking at the sinner's heart.)
Sinner.-Who are you?
H. G.-Holy Ghost.
S.-What do you want?
H. G.-I want to come into you.
S.-For what?
H. G.-To take up my abode in you.
S.-What then?
H. G.-I wish to transform you.
S.-For what purpose?
H. G.-To use you.
S.-In what way?
H. G.-In sending you about this wicked hell-hole New York, on an errand of love and mercy.
S.-You can't come in.
H. G.-(Knocking again.)
S.-What now?
H. G.-I must enter in and use you.
S.-I won't let you in now; I am not ready for you; you must wait for a more convenient season. There are some worldly engagements which I must attend to at once.
H. G.-Now, as Ephraim is joined to his idols, let him alone. You have grieved me away repeatedly, notwithstanding I have been knocking at the door of your heart. You may live on in your wickedness a little longer, but soon it shall be said to you by the Son-Depart, thou cursed of my Father, into everlasting fire, prepared for the Devil and his angels.
