IN UNIFORM
THE ARMY
Sgt. Bill Nicholas received his discharge from the Army November 8 at Fort Meade. Bill was in the Army for 4 years and 7 months, part of the time spent in Iceland with the first A.E.F. and the 5th Infantry Division.
Pvt. Jean Nance of 8-A Hillside Road was home on furlough at Thanksgiving time.
Pfc. Carl Pearson has been hospitalized at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Pfc. Bill Schofield and Pfc. Lung are both with a cavalry outfit stationed in Austria. They write home saying they will be back in Greenbelt "In the Sweet Bye and Bye."
Pvt. Frank expects to get home for Christmas from Turner Field.
Pvt. Bill Goodman was transferred to Camp Crowder. Mo. from Fort Meade on Thanksgiving Day.
Major and Mrs. Granville Marts, AAC, recently returned from a trip through the West. They visited Colorado, the Grand Canyon, and other points of interest while the Major has terminal leave. He has recently returned from the ETO and expects to be discharged in January.
Former T/Sgt. Frank B. Lastner is out of the Army and is back to his job as salesman for a dental equipment company.
Sgt. Charles Hart who is now in Shanghai, has been awarded a citation for meritorious service, and has been awarded the Chinese Medal of Honor for services in Manchuria. Details will be given when Sgt. Hart returns home.
Lt. Frank Loftus is on his way to Germany.
Lt. William Stewart left for overseas last week.
John T. Janni, Jr., musician with the army, was recently discharged.
Pfc. Larry Childress is home on a 60-day furlough. Larry was with the 63rd Infantry Division of the 7th Army, and transferred to an ordinance unit stationed at Heidelberg, Germany. After his furlough, Larry reports back to his outfit in Germany.
Pfc. Bill Townsend is home and out of the Army. Bill was with a medical unit attached to the 1st Division.
Cpl. Richard H. Day is back in Greenbelt for a 60-day furlough.
T/4 Ben Perelzweig of the 3rd Infantry Division hopes to be home in January.
THE NAVY
C.P.O. Newton has received his discharge after serving two years in the Navy.
S 1/c Isidore Russakoff arrived home last Thursday; he was burned quite badly in an explosion on his ship.
S 2/c Joe Lewis is enjoying a 30-day furlough home from the Navy Hospital in Farragut, Idaho.
Sp (P) 1/c Mike Salzman is going to the Separation Center at Bainbridge, Md. this week to be discharged.
Seaman Joe Lewis is home on convalescent leave from a Navy Hospital.
Jean Nance of : 18-A Hillside Road received his discharge from the Navy November 16 and visited his family in St. Louis before arriving in Greenbelt.
S 1/c Lorraine E. Mullen received her discharge from the Waves December 8. Lorraine reported for duty November 18, 1943 and was stationed at Newport, Rhode Island.
