WASHINGTON
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9.

VIRGINIA ELECTIONS.

In Prince William county, the election took place on Monday. At the close of the poll for Congress, the votes were
For A. T. Mason, (Repub.) 204
C. F. Mercer, (Fed.) 76
Majority for Gen. Mason 128

General Mason will obtain a majority in Fairfax county: Loudon, it is probable, will give a majority to Colonel Mercer, but, it is hoped, not large enough to outweigh Gen. M's gain in the two other counties.

For the State Senate, in Prince William, J. Moncure had a majority of 108 over John Taliaferro, and John Linton and Philip Harrison were elected Delegates.

In Frederick county, the election took place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday last. The result was
For Gen. Tucker, 719
Colonel Carson, 31

Both gentlemen are republicans. Gen. Tucker, we learn, was not a candidate, and was absent from home at the time. His election may be considered certain, there being no probability of his opponent overtaking him in the remainder of the district.

Archibald Magill and Joseph Sexton were elected Delegates from Frederick to the Legislature.
