August 6. A few nights ago, we hear, the following question was debated at a tavern at the west end of the town: "Who is the greater man, Lord Chatham, or Lord Clive?" After a great deal of argumentation, pro and con, it was thus determined by the majority of the company: They both have been successful in all their undertakings, the one in the cabinet, and the other in the field, in which different departments they have both so remarkably distinguished themselves that it is difficult to determine who is the greater man.
