Boys Who Took Emil Blasky's Car After Sensational Jail Escape in Limbo

Monday evening's papers, having United Press dispatches contained the following item, concerning the two young fellows who broke jail in Detroit Lakes, stole a car there, came to Mahnomen, where they eluded the officers, and afterwards took Emil Blasky's Buick, which they drove to Bemidji, where it was abandoned, and stole another car. The Bemidji car was abandoned at Warren, where still another car was appropriated.

Following is the newspaper story of their final capture.

Henry White, 22, Perham, Minn., and his cousin Arthur Bistram, 20, said to have lived in St. Paul, who said they had broken jail five days ago at Detroit Lakes, Minn., were held by police here today after they threatened Patrolman Clifford W. Davis with a revolver.

White was under treatment at a hospital for a bullet wound in his left hip while Bistram was held in city jail. They were arrested Sunday by Davis on vagrancy charges. While White was being searched, Bistram pressed a revolver against the patrolman's ribs. Davis turned and knocked Bistram to the sidewalk and White in turn grabbed the patrolman's sap and struck him on the head. Then both ran.

They were captured after a chase and the patrolman shot White when he attempted to slug him. Both admitted stealing gasoline and robbing several stores on their trip from Minnesota.

Police announced today that White and Bistram would be turned over to Detroit Lakes authorities.
