LETTER from Gen. Leftwich of the Virginia Detachment in the N. W. Army, to the Chairman of the Committee of the Association in this City for aiding the War.

Camp, (Delaware) Nov. 30, 1812.

SIR,

With sensations of pleasure and gratitude, I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of the articles mentioned in your favor of the 9th of October. Mr. Hopper arrived with them last evening; and to-morrow they shall be distributed to the most necessitous of the troops. I avail myself of this opportunity to assure you, and through you, the association, that every officer and soldier in the Virginia Line, duly appreciates the liberality and patriotism of their fellow citizens at home. And I am proud, that among the States the sympathies with their brethren in arms, and endeavor to alleviate their sufferings, Virginia is numbered. From the nature of the campaign, the lateness of the season, and the severity of the climate in which we have to act, the articles you have been so kind as to forward, will be peculiarly serviceable. Every exertion is making for an active campaign.
