MOSCOW, (INS)-The International conference on the origin of life was interrupted Wednesday night by a cable from an Indian Scientist who claimed he had created life in his laboratory.
The cable was read by session president Professor Hoffman-Ostenhof of the University of Vienna and was signed by Layji Bhai Patel. of Junagarh. India.
It stated: "Life under laboratory conditions created. Initial success. Further experiments on hand."
Scientists at the Moscow conference refused to comment on the Indian's claim. Earlier, American professor Wendell M. Stanley of the University of California said that he had concluded from experiments that the virus was the "Missing Link" in the chain of life.
Stanley said that viruses which had been considered crystalline substances, "are alive and like living things which can reproduce and mutate."
The Scientist declared that in life-scale they come between molecules and bacteria which until now were considered the smallest living beings.
Stanley had predicted the making and controlling of life in the laboratory before the cable reached the session.
In his experiments, Fox said he submitted non-living matter to temperatures between 350 and 400 degrees fahrenheit (the presumed heat of the earth's surface before life) and produced vitamin-like compounds and other important components to living things.

Stanley describes viruses as the missing link in life's chain, alive and reproductive. Stanley predicted lab creation of life. Fox's experiments produced vitamin-like compounds from non-living matter under high heat.
