Fairfax County, April 22.

MR. SMITH,

You will oblige a subscriber by publishing in your paper the following correct statement of the poll of this county taken on Monday last.--Extraordinary exertions were made not only by the Federalists of this county-but those of the town of Alexandria--Notwithstanding their efforts and the wet day preventing a number of freeholders from attending, the Republican majority is greater than usual, and if the Sheriff (who is a warm Federalist) had permitted the poll to be kept open the ensuing day as requested by the Republican candidates, the majority would have been considerably increased:

FOR CONGRESS.
Republican votes.
Jno. Littlejohn 157.
Federal.
Joseph Lewis 120.

FOR STATE LEGISLATURE.
Republican votes.
George Summers, Esq. 166,
Dr. J. H. Blake 157.
Federal.
Dr. Rich. Coleman 115
Hancock Lee, Esq. 101
