A party of about 150 men under Major Jack set out from Fort James on the ceded lands, about sixty miles westward of Augusta, for Toogelo and Eitatoe, the two nearest Cherokee towns. After three days march, they arrived, killed about thirteen Indians, burned both towns, and took Holmes prisoner who had been in Cameron's camp that morning. The party returned, with Major Jack arriving at Augusta on the 10th.
