The committee from the two well-known Chi-Phi fraternities of the North and South held a session in this city Friday and Saturday. The committee present on the part of the Northern order were: Wm. Stephen, of New York; Charles F. Hendris, Cooperstown, New York, and Otis O. Tiffany, of Washington; and on the part of the Southern order, Win. F. Bishop, of Petersburg; Edward Bland, Bland, of Wellville, and Meade Haskins, of Richmond, Va. This fraternity is the oldest college fraternity in the country, having been organized in 1824; but a separation took place at the commencement of the late civil war, and the present movement is to again unite the Northern and Southern parts. There are in all about 5,000 members, with two chapters of post graduates, one of which is in Philadelphia and the other in New York.
