The Feud Settled.

The music publishers of the country, held a convention in New York city, week before last, for the purpose of settling the feuds which have recently prevailed amongst them, and concerting plans for unanimity of action in the future. A uniform publication rate of five cents per sheet was established; it was also agreed that all music should be marked by the decimal coinage, and, in conclusion, the convention wound up with a jovial banquet.

We are glad that peace has been again established between those irritable members of the human family known as musicians. It is somewhat of a psychological curiosity that the lovers and cultivators of harmony should be so addicted to letting their angry passions rise; but paradoxical as it may appear they make more discord in their social and business relations than any other of the professions or callings known among men. This irritability has characterized the most eminent composers, even while in all their social relations they have been of the most amiable dispositions. It is very probable that the auditory nerves of musicians are much more sensitive than those of common people, and hence they are greatly more annoyed at the various disturbances and discords which are daily happening in this most inharmonious world. We knew a gentleman once, a skillful musician and a great lover of music, who suffered positive pain when he heard the ringing of a bell or the beating of a gong. But let this be as it may, we are glad that the music men have buried the hatchet; we hope they will keep in tune for an indefinite length of time, and none of the fraternity play either too high or too low.
