Forest supervisors, HOLDING CONFERENCE in DENVER THIS WEEK

Forest supervisors from the Hayden national forest with headquarters at Encampment, from the Medicine Bow at Laramie, and from the other national forests in Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota and Michigan, are in conference this week and next with A. S. Peck, the district forester, and his assistants at Denver. The first week is to be given over to a discussion of the allotment estimates or the budget needed to maintain and carry on the work of each national forest. This budget includes a provision for the salaries of the rangers and other personnel of the forests, travel expenses, purchase of forage, equipment and supplies, expenses of heat, light, freight, telephones, advertising and maintenance of speeders, trucks and teams.

The budget also includes provision for the maintenance and construction of improvements within the forest, ranger station buildings, pasture funds, corrals, telephone lines, fire lookouts, bridges, water improvements, recreation improvements, roads and trails. The provision for discussion of allotment estimates and budget insures that forest service funds are carefully allotted and so carefully expended that each dollar may go as far as possible.
