Editor Children's Department, Age-Herald.

Dear Editor—After noting your advertisement in Sunday's Age-Herald, I shall
endeavor to write you a letter.

I have been reading the "Children's" page
for some time, and think it very interesting.
I have never written you before, owing
to the lack of time.

I am at present with the Telephone Exchange as operator, and like it very much.

On Thursday, November 9, I left home accompanied by papa for the Alabama State
Fair. We arrived in Birmingham about
noon. After having our dinner, we took
a car for the fair grounds. After arriving
there we went into the building, saw all
the exhibits, many of which were very
pretty. That being our first day, we remained out there until 8:30 to see the fireworks,
which were very pretty also. We
then returned to the city, went to our
rooms and retired for the night.

We awoke next morning about 8:30, had
breakfast and went out to the fair grounds
again. We took dinner out there, and
about 2 p. m. went to see the races, they
being the most interesting part of the afternoon.

We were so tired in returning to the city
early, had our supper, and took a very
pleasant stroll over the business part of
the city.

On November 18 I had the pleasure of
seeing the magnificent victoria presented
to Mrs. Hardman, also hearing the Governor's speech. The phaeton was also presented to Mrs. Jones. She having sold the
greatest number of tickets.

I returned to my home on November 23,
after a pleasant vacation, and being much
refreshed.

I think from now on I shall at my few
idle minutes write you again. I shall send
this one so as to enter the contest. I remain, very respectfully,

MOLLIE
MANNING.
