Celebration of the Thirtieth Anniversary of Its Founding.
The thirtieth anniversary of the founding of the Nevada State University will be celebrated at Reno during Commencement week, beginning May 28 and ending June 2. The Regents and Faculty have invited the men and women of this State to aid in celebrating the event in a manner worthy of the occasion.
This celebration will mark the passing of the University from its formative stage to the period of its maturity. It will be the last celebration before all of the pioneers who laid its foundation in the Legislative Act of 1873 have passed away. The event will, therefore, assume a reminiscent character. The University pioneers will be gathered in reunion and made the guests of the occasion, while the gradual development of the University since 1874 when it opened as a preparatory school with seven students and one instructor, will be described by those who know it best. The alumni and students of the University will also be represented in the celebration and will share in the plans for greater usefulness upon which the University is about to enter in view of the promised increase in the industries and population of the State.
The spirit of the entire Commencement will be consonant with the celebration idea, but the celebration itself will be confined to Wednesday, June 1. The Alumni Associations will banquet the University pioneers and guests in the evening.
