A letter from Plymouth, dated the 15th inst. says, "This morning a duel was fought near Cawsand, by the surgeon's mate of the Force gun boat, and a midshipman. The parties fired two shots with pistols, at twelve paces, and the midshipman then urged his antagonist to advance to the distance of six paces, which was complied with, when, dreadful to relate, Mr. W-, the midshipman, after an exchange of two brace of pistols more, received a ball, which went through the vertebrae, and came out on the left side, and a severe paraplegia, or paralysis of the lower limbs taking place, he fell. He is now in the royal hospital in a most miserable state, perfectly dead in the lower limbs."
