READY TO HANDLE STRIKES.
New Britain, April 28.—The state executive board of the Carpenters and Joiners' union met here yesterday and prepared for the handling of the strikes which are promised in several towns and cities on Thursday, May 1, unless the demands of the journeymen for higher wages shall have been met before that time. It is reported that strikes will occur in Bridgeport and Hartford and the state board has arranged to transfer the strikers to other cities where more help is required as soon as the strike is declared.
