South Carolina.—We have been looking out with great solicitude for late news from Charleston, to learn what reception the President's Proclamation met with in that quarter. The N. Y. Courier & Enquirer received by the steamboat yesterday morning, furnishes only the following paragraph respecting it.
"News from Charleston.—We learn that letters were received in town yesterday from Charleston in date of the 16th instant. That they state the President's Proclamation had been received there and that the grounds he has assumed in that document were generally reprobated and had caused great excitement."
