It is stated, in the National Intelligencer, that the Post Office Department had paid, in one instance, the sum of $3200 dollars for an increase of the expedition of one route only thirty minutes ! That disinterested patriot and advocate of economy General Duff Green, received for a single Post Office advertisement, published in the Telegraph, in the year 1829, the sum of $2623 50. This advertisement, at the rate established under the 'extravagant' administration of Mr Adams, would have entitled him to $668 50.
