Full Text

The Prayer, among others, used in England on the late General Fast Day, Dec. 13th, 1775.

A Prayer for our Enemies.

O Blessed Lord, who hast commanded us by thy beloved Son to love our enemies, and to extend our charity in praying even for those who despitefully use us, we beseech thee, to give grace to our unhappy fellow-subjects in America, that they may return from the error of their ways, and find not only the judgments of thy hand, but the providence and protection of these kingdoms preserved to them, and to make themselves worthy of thy pardon by returning to their duty; grant us in the meantime to pity them, to have a willingness to receive them again as friends and brethren, upon such just and reasonable terms, and to treat them with mercy and kindness, for the sake of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
