Council Meets
The first meeting of the Second Division Advisory Council of the Alaska Employment Security commission was held here during the visit of Bob Sheldon, executive director.
This is the first meeting of the group since its inception over a year ago and according to Mr. Sheldon the first meeting of any of the divisional groups to date.
Lester Bronson, chairman of the council and public representative, called the meeting to order. Also present were Steve Andersen, employer representative and Charles Fagerstrom, labor representative.
It was unanimously agreed that the Commission should arrange as soon as possible for some sort of service, not only in the town of Nome, but also in other villages in the Division, that would provide for an authorized person or agency to not only advise but assist people in making out their claims for unemployment benefits and also discourage and prevent any who may through lack of proper knowledge or willfully be violating the law.
