Thursday last arrived at Providence, in Rhode-Island, the Privateer Sloop Jolly Batchelor, Col. Samuel Angel Commander, and the Privateer Sloop King Hendrick, commanded by Capt. James Eborn; and brought in with them a large French Privateer Schooner, which they took in the Gulph; she was designed to cruize on our Northern Coasts, and fought them several Glasses, having on board more Men than both the Sloops; she mounted 10 4-Pounders and 14 Swivels, and was every otherwise extremely well fitted for fighting; she lost five Men in the Engagement, and several wounded, and had on board when she struck upwards of 60 Men.—The English Privateers lost only one Man, though Col. Angel himself with several of his Officers were wounded.—She is to be sent immediately to New London, in order to be condemned.
