400 ACCREDITED HIGH SCHOOLS IN STATE

Nine Are In Accomack County And Six Are In Northampton

Richmond, Va., February 23--Virginia has 400 four-year accredited high schools with the addition of 9 schools reported yesterday by T. D. Eason, secretary of the State Board of Education. In all fifteen high schools are on the accredited list in Accomack and Northampton Counties, 9 being in Accomack County and 6 in Northampton. The accredited schools in Accomack county are: Chincoteague, New Church, Temperanceville, Bloxom, Parksley, Accomac, Onley, Onancock and Central High School. The only new school on the list in Accomack County is New Church. This school had its credits certified last year but it was not put on the list until this year.

In Northampton County all of the high schools are on the accredited list. They are: Exmore-Willis Wharf, Franktown - Nassawadox, Eastville, Cheriton, Cape Charles and Capeville. Cape Charles High School is the only one of the 15 accredited High Schools of Accomack and Northampton which is on the accredited list of the Southern Association of Secondary Schools.
