The Most Outstanding Bible Conference Was Most Interesting and Inspiring Yesterday at the First A Church under the leadership of G. Campbell Morgan, noted pastor and lecturer.
Dr. Morgan took the topic: "The Records." In most minds one thinks of the four Gospels as authentic. His subject, he told the audience, four Gospels at length upon the characteristics of each. In a graphic manner and told in a most their manner of life and thinking. Dr. Matthew as being the It is strong to think of Jesus as King. Matthew had been a tax-gatherer in the employment of the Roman government and as such could see the life from the standpoint of one connected with the business government. Dr. Morgan went on to describe Mark, the writer of the second Gospel as the son of a rich widow who had no real trade in life was a hail fellow and enjoyed the companionship of the crowd, whether it be made up of fishermen or any other class. It is Mark that speaks of Jesus as Servant. In the third Gospel written by Luke, you have the conception of a Greek physician. So that his gospel is a revelation of the character of the man Jesus from another viewpoint. In John the writer of the fourth: there is much of the mystic. Dr. Morgan said in passing that John was the dreamer and while he might have been connected with the others in the fishing business, he must have been a poor fisherman. That instead of being greatly interested in the fish, he would be more largely interested in the water, the sky and the mountains. The lecture was a most inspiring and instructive one.
The afternoons of the week will be taken up with the discussion of these four Gospels. The topic this afternoon will be: "The Son of God as King." Tomorrow the afternoon topic will be: "The Son of God as Servant." On Thursday the topic will be "The Son of God as Man." On Friday the closing lecture will have as its topic: The Son of God as God.
