Pinellas High School of Clearwater was the scene of another semi-annual circuit assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses of south Florida. Over 19 congregations of Witnesses were represented in Clearwater, 27 from the local unit.
The convention started Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m. and continued to the climax of the key Bible talk Sunday, "Removing The Barriers Dividing Mankind". J. A. Thompson, Dist. Supt. of the Seaboard states from Va., to Fla., was the speaker of the assembly. Thompson is a graduate of the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead. The theme of Friday's sessions was "Tell the Good News". S. Gray Jr., also a Gilead Graduate, opened the second portion of the meeting Friday with a "service meeting" which pointed to the most effective way to accomplish the preaching of the "Good News of God's Kingdom."
Saturday's highlights were the Baptism of 13 persons in the afternoon meeting, and in the evening showing of the motion picture "The Happiness of the New World Society". The film depicted the great ingathering of the Lord's people now taking place in 162 lands of the world.
"Removing the Barriers Dividing Mankind", the main sermon of the convention was given before a capacity audience Sunday, May 12, at 3 pm. by Thompson. Thompson spoke of man's futile and man's failure to achieve results. "The reason for this failure," Thompson stated, "lies in efforts to remove these barriers. man's disregard for God, and His word the Bible". He then appealed to those in attendance to accept God's way of removing these barriers dividing the human family by practicing love of God and love of fellow man.
