LEXINGTON:
THURSDAY MORNING, JULY 13.
TO THE PUBLIC.
Having received from the government an appointment abroad, my connection with this paper ceases with this number of the Gazette. The paper will be conducted by my partner, Mr. Cavins. Independent of his own qualifications and republican firmness, several literary gentlemen have been so good as to tender their aid: and, while I flatter myself that the Gazette has been edited to please the mass of our subscribers since the office came into our hands, I am free to tender to the public a belief that it will lose nothing under the auspices of Mr. Cavins and his friends.
In order to arrange my pecuniary concerns here, it will be necessary for the books of the office to be settled up. As it will perhaps be November before I depart from the U. States, I shall, with the exception of appropriating a short time on a journey, devote my attention to collections. Our patrons will not think hard of this. Those to whom I am indebted have claims that must be discharged.
JOSHUA NORVELL.
