TO-DAY'S TELEGRAPH NEWS

The Election in Virginia.

Special dispatches to the Alexandria Gazette.

RICHMOND, VA., Nov. 9--1:10 p. m.--The democrats gain over combined vote of 1880. The result is not yet ascertained.

Richmond, Va., Nov. 9--2 p. m.--Cameron is most probably elected. The Legislature is very doubtful. The democrats claim that they need only one vote to give them a majority on joint ballot. The readjusters are uneasy about the Legislature.

RICHMOND, VA., Nov. 9, 1881--3 p. m.-- Cameron is certainly elected. The Legislature from present returns, is close and doubtful both sides claiming it.

RICHMOND, Nov. 9--3:30 p. m.--The returns for Governor are still too meagre to afford a correct conclusion. There are no figures here yet which will elect Cameron, to have a net gain of eleven in the Legislature. Our losses are as follows: Culpeper 1, Henrico 1, Montgomery 1, Buckingham 1, Greene and Madison 1, Chesterfield 1. Total loss 6. Our gains are as follows:

Senators--Botetourt district: 1 Albemarle 1, Halifax 1, and King and Queen 1.

Delegates--Albemarle 1, Alleghany, Bath and Highland 1, Botetourt 1, Goochland 1, Halifax 1, Hanover 1 (goy r precincted by a debt-paying republican) 1, Rockbridge 2, Caroline 1, Gloucester 1, King and Queen 1, Portsmouth 1, Mathews and Middlesex 1. Total gain 16; net gain 11; necessary to gain 15 to secure the Legislature on joint ballot.

WASHINGTON, D. C., Nov. 9.--Commissioner Raum received a telegram this afternoon from James D. Brady at Petersburg, Va., which says: "Reliable reports come in slow, but all we have are very good. Our majority in Jordon's district is heavy and we have carried all out of Dezendorf's district excepting Portsmouth. Unless all of our careful calculations of this morning are erroneous, we have elected Cameron by more than 10,000 majority and carried the Legislature."

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Nov. 9--4:30.--Charlottesville gives Daniel 101 majority; Keowee, Cameron 22; Stony Point, Daniel, 58; Ivy Depot, Daniel 3; Covesville, Daniel 100; Batesville, Daniel 5; Scottsville, Daniel 47; Milton, Cameron 97. Daniel will carry the county by 150 to 200. Wingfield, Dean and Moon by 300. No news from Greene.

LEESBURG, Nov. 9.--The official vote of Loudoun gives Daniel a majority of 856. Kenner beats Eddings 750. Planter's majority over Fry and Grier combined is 571.

WARRENTON, Va., Nov. 9--2:40 p. m.-- All the precincts are in. Count. (official,) Daniel, 2,145; Cameron, 1,415. Daniel's majority 730. Democrats lose 250, and readjusters gain 46 on Republican election. Kenner, Scott and Stribling about same figures.

Manassas, Nov. 9--The official vote of Prince William county is as follows: Brentsville: Daniel, 98; Cameron, 31; Nicol, 99; Harrison, 25. Manassas: Daniel, 285; Cameron, 58. At Occoquan Daniel's majority is 126; at Hickory Grove, 60. Independent Hill: Daniel, 105; Cameron, 25. Waterfall: Daniel, 43; Cameron, 15. Groveton: Cameron's majority 16. This leaves Occoquan precinct to hear from, where Daniel will get about 20 majority. Dumfries, where the democrats will get a small majority, Occoquan, where the mongrel ticket will get about 50 majority and Potomac, where the democrats will get a small majority. The majority in the county will be about 500.

HARRISONBURG, VA., Nov. 9, 1881--2:40 p. m.--Cameron's majority in Rockingham and Shenandoah will be between seven and eight hundred.

Woodstock, VA., Nov. 9.--The Mahoneites carry Shenandoah county by upwards of 400 majority.

WINCHESTER, Nov. 9--12:50 p. m., Frederick and Clarke together give Daniel fourteen hundred majority. Warren is not heard from.
