Full Text

We continue to receive accounts of the tremendous Hurricane which happened at Havanna the last of October. The Cane and Plantain were prostrated, and the Coffee blown from the trees. It is supposed that half crops will not be obtained. Damage to the amount of several hundred thousand dollars, which cannot yet be ascertained, was sustained by the shipping in the harbor; and the effects still more ruinous on shore, as it is feared the hurricane extended over great part of the Island of Cuba, and probably to the neighboring islands. Some idea may be formed of the terrible dashing of the sea, when it is stated that the wave broke 40 feet over the flag staff at the castle.
