Full Text

An Absurdity.—What can be more absurd than the proceedings of the late Tory meeting in this village, which at one and the same time approved of the nomination of Royal Ralph Hinman, Ebenezer Stoddard, and Thomas T. Whittlesey, (by a Hartford Convention!) and denounced their opponents, viz: David Tomlinson, Abraham Bishop, and their friends, as Hartford Convention federalists! Royal Ralph Hinman, who voted for the Hartford Convention, a Democrat!! and David Tomlinson, who opposed that indiscreet assemblage, and supported the government during the late war, a Federalist!! Verily, the managers who got up that miserable affair must suppose that gullibility is an attribute appertaining to the good people of this vicinity to an extent much greater than they will think it does after the 1st Monday in April next.
