A Red Wing housewife who entered politics 14 years ago because of a deep concern over the need for world co-operation and United States leadership in a positive program for world peace will be the guest speaker at the 11:30 a.m. service at St. James A. M. E. Church, Dale and W. Central, on Women's Day, Sunday, May 18.
Mrs. Eugenie Anderson, Chairman of the Minnesota Fair Employment Practices Commission and widely known as a champion of civil rights, will bring a worthwhile message to members and friends of St. James. Mrs. Anderson is just as well known nationally and internationally as she is in her home state.
She served from 1950 to 1953 as U. S. Ambassador to Denmark and there won the hearts of the Danish people by her endeavors to understand them and help them understand America. When she was a delegate at large to the Democratic National Convention in 1948, she was a leader in the fight for a civil rights plank, and for nominees representing civil rights.
She is a former Democratic National Committeewoman.
Mrs. Philip Freeman Sr. will direct the Women's Day Chorus.
Mrs. Robert Lee Cox Sr. is general chairman of Women's Day. She is being ably assisted by Mmes. Ollye A. Gunn, M. R. Burgess and Nelson E.
Dr. Jesse L. Glover is the pastor of St. James.
