Sooners Starless

If there were ever a team without stars, Oklahoma, the Big Six conference champion which meets Tennessee in the Orange Bowl, is it.

Oklahoma won ten consecutive games this season, was scored on only twice and yet has not relied on any one or two particular players. None of the "Sooner" squad drew headlines each week and became by-words in gridiron circles from coast to coast like the Davey O'Briens, Marshall Goldbergs and Eric Tiptons.

Yet, in the squad of 31 are two dozen players who could move in and play with the best of 'em.

That's the secret of Oklahoma's success—plenty of good rugged material welded into a strong unit both offensively and defensively.
