CLUB GIRL PROUD OF INEXPENSIVE, ATTRACTIVE ROOM

Bonifay, Dec. 7.- "My living room is rather inexpensive but it's attractive, and I'm as proud of it as a baby would be of a new rattle," Agnes White, Holmes County 4-H club girl and state home improvement champion, recently said.

Agnes began her 4-H club home improvement work four years ago in what she calls "my gloomy room". With a little help from her parents and two 4-H club sisters and $15 in cash, the room of which she is now proud is the result, according to Mrs. Bettie Caudle, home demonstration agent.

First of all the davenport, table, bedstead, and other furniture were painted to a green color scheme. Three chairs, a library table, and a dressing table were then built and painted. Two door stops were made, the davenport was covered, cushions were made for the chairs, and new curtains and pillow cases were made.

"I didn't have any money, but I realized that attractive furniture counts for little if it is not comfortable and effectively arranged. I had but little living room furniture, but I knew a room looked better with too little furniture than with too much," Agnes said.

"I am a club girl who has definite household tasks to perform daily. I have my bedroom, the living room, and dining room to care for, and in addition to the daily clean-up give them a thorough cleaning every week. I couldn't tell in a lifetime what 4-H club work has done for me. It has made a more attractive home, better housekeeping, and a more happy, contented, and home loving people in this country."
