OUR WEST-INDIA NEWS
Is exceedingly contradictory. The arrival of a French and Spanish armament (by some accounts of great force, is asserted from various quarters ; but we still have reason to think, that these accounts have originated in the expected arrival at Santo Domingo. of a Spanish fleet of 10 sail, with the French Commissioners on board, as noticed in late Centinels.
That the British armament has arrived in the Windward Islands, is certain : But we have not heard of any operations of moment from it. Reports are, that they intend to attempt the capture the Dutch colonies of Surinam, &c. but whether these, or Guadaloupe, &c. are the real objects, we have no other data to reckon by than the most vague of vague reports.
