Full Text
Nothing is more humiliating to the "art preservative of arts," than to see the practical printer made the catspaw for political demagogues and office-seekers. At best the printer's lot is a hard one, and few possess magnanimity enough to throw the mantle of charity over errors to which all mankind are liable. From every side he meets with frowns, and if he be destitute of firmness and decision, he is placed at the mercy of every spiteful demagogue and puny office-seeker, who harrass him "by day and by night.' Firmness-decision-added to perseverance, can scale the highest mountain-why not humble the demagogue and politician?
