Full Text
It was confidently reported, that on Saturday morning, an order of Council was issued, to stop the sailing of the outward-bound fleet for Spain. There is on board of this fleet a considerable quantity of naval and military stores, purchased in this country for the court of Spain, which, in the present state of things, it is probably politic to stop.
A squadron of 18 or 14 ships of the line, we are assured will be immediately dispatched to the Mediterranean as a reinforcement to Admiral Hotham, the Russian fleet, which consists of about that number, it is said, was originally intended for this service, but ministers judging it contrary to sound policy to suffer Russia to become acquainted with the navigation of the Mediterranean, it is more probable that it will remain on the home station, and that a proportionate number of British ships will go upon that expedition.

Event Details
Confident report that on Saturday morning an order of Council issued to stop sailing of outward-bound fleet for Spain carrying naval and military stores purchased for Spanish court. Squadron of 18 or 14 ships of the line to be immediately dispatched to Mediterranean as reinforcement to Admiral Hotham. Russian fleet of similar number originally intended but likely to remain on home station due to ministers' policy against Russia navigating Mediterranean; proportionate British ships to go on expedition.
