SATURDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 27, 1827.

ALEXANDRIA.

The result of the Pennsylvania elections, so far as heard from, has rendered the Jacksonians in this county desperate. The friends of the Administration, following the example of other counties, had appointed meetings throughout this county, which the Jacksonians resolved if possible to prevent, by mustering the forces of the Hero on the same days, and occupying the public places. As a shower of stones and brickbats would have been the consequence of coming thus in collision, the friends of the Administration have determined to yield the ground for the present, convinced that this last effort of the opposition will seal their fate in this county.

In my next I will inform you of the result of our meetings.

We have nearly all the intelligent and respectable men of the county; and if the changes in public opinion continue to go on as they have done, we shall be able, in 1828, at the election, to give a triumphant majority for Mr. Adams.
