Full Text

The Irish Regiment.—The State Sentinel of yesterday says. We are informed that the Irish regiment is rapidly being filled up, with every prospect of success, as much so as any regiment now organizing. Already portions of several companies are in camp in this city, and have been mustered into the service. Advices from various parts of the State indicate the arrival of a large number of recruits for this regiment in a few days. We are informed that Rev. E. B. Kilroy, an accomplished and faithful Catholic priest, has accepted the chaplaincy of the regiment. This will be gratifying to the Irishmen who desire to enlist where they can have the benefits of the rites of the church. We state this fact that Irishmen may hold themselves in reserve for the Irish regiment.
