An anonymous correspondence has sent us the following paragraph:

The secret and sudden departure of the British Consul from Ostend for the Court of London, occasions various conjectures among the politicians at the English Hotel:- the more knowing ones impute it to some overtures from Passy, made through the medium of the celebrated Mrs. Wright, who, it is well known, was lately in close conference with the Consul. This conjecture has been founded on some significant hints dropped by him. previous to his departure, which has operated amazingly on the sanguine expectations of the inn keepers of that place; who suppose the eventual consequences will be a speedy peace.
