LONDON, July 26.

Extract of a letter from Paris, July 20.

The following is an account of the fate of the poor deputies of Brittany.: They had been sent from the States with written remonstrances to court, and solicited repeatedly to see the monarch. They were politely refused every time they applied for admittance into the presence room; and the minister, after having treated them with all possible marks of respect, and given orders that they should be nobly entertained during their stay at Versailles, dismissed them. The deputies, 12 in number, instead of returning to Rennes, took a lodging in a superb hotel, Rue de Richelieu, and in a very spacious room, held many conferences in the night time, at which several persons of the highest consequence were present. On Tuesday last about midnight, eleven, who happened to be at home, were conveyed to the Bastile. The twelfth deputy went home at two o'clock in the morning; when it had just happened, and requested to take care of himself, by getting a post-chaise, &c. he intrepidly answered, "With them I came, with them will I return: If any body enquires for me, they will find me in my bed;". and in fact, about five in the morning, the twelfth deputy followed the rest to the dismal Bastile, where they did not remain long. On Saturday morning they were all relieved from their confinement in order to repair to another, God knows where. Some say they are exiled to Pierre en Size, at Lyons: others to St. Margaret's Island.. The truth is, that they are certainly on the road to some fortified place, where, in all probability, they will continue till affairs take a better turn; for, at present, every thing is in the utmost confusion in Brittany. A whole regiment (Belgoy's they say) has been broke for not obeying the minister's orders, in pursuing the malecontents. The persons of distinction concerned in the nocturnal meetings-of the last Rue de Richelieu, are said to be the dukes of Pentelin and Rochefoucault, the marquis de la Fayette, M. de Boitgelin, the bishop of Rennes, and some others, whose names are not certainly known. Those who had places and pensions at court, were immediately dismissed, and ordered to retire to their country seats.

By a letter just received by an eminent French house in this city, from their correspondent in Paris, we are informed of the following particulars :

— That on the imprisonment of the twelve deputies from Brittany, the marquis de la Fayette instantly set off for the last mentioned place, and put himself at the head of a body of the populace, consisting of 600 men; and when this account came away, numbers were hourly flocking to his standard.
