WASHINGTON -- Twenty-two members of the General Federation of Women's Clubs will leave for Alaska on September 1, according to information given Senator Bartlett by Mrs. Leslie B. Wright, member of the Federation under whose auspices the trip is being made.
Termed the "Alaska Statehood Trip," the group will be headed by the Federation's president, Miss Chloe Gifford. "The Federation was constant over many years in its unswerving devotion to Alaska statehood, and no group anywhere in this country did more for the cause," Senator Bartlett stated last week in expressing the hope that as many Alaskans as possible will be able to meet with the group.
The trip will start in Vancouver on September 1, and will be in Kotzebue and Nome on the 11th and 12th. They will leave again for Seattle from Anchorage on September 19.
