FOURTH OF JULY.

We should be delighted to see preparations making for the celebration of the anniversary of our National Independence, in a manner and style commensurate with the day, and in a spirit akin to the spirit of '76. Let us not forget in the heat of party strife, the charter of our liberties; but let us one and all, on that day, join with one accord in our nation's Jubilee. It is a day of pride and glory to us all, and should with the same pride and spirit be observed and kept. We would therefore suggest the propriety of a public meeting being held at the Court House, in this place, for the purpose of adopting measures to ensure the celebration with becoming interest, zeal and solemnity. What say you, neighbors of the "Shield?" Will you second this motion?
