FRANCE.

Mr. Dayton, the United States Minister to France, had an audience with Prince Napoleon and the Princess Clotilde recently.

The political disputes in the United States have likewise produced a partial stagnation in French enterprise. Accounts from Lyons state that the silk trade is becoming worse under the influence of the unfavorable news from America. Manufacturers have resigned themselves to a long suspension in the trade between France and America. What is still worse, fears are entertained that the merchandise delivered will not be paid for.

The continued dry weather has had an unfavorable effect on the Paris flour market. Wheat has risen 50c. a sack of 120 kilos.
