The Rev. John F. Hearst, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, has accepted a call to be the pastor of the Presbyterian church of this city. The committee, appointed at the time of the acceptance of the resignation of the Rev. N. B. Harrison on securing a new pastor, offered the Skagway pulpit to the Rev. Mr. Hearst, and this week a cablegram was received from him accepting the offer. His duties will begin Nov. 1st.
The Rev. Mr. Hearst is said to be one of the strongest preachers of the Presbyterian church in the West. He is a very highly educated man, being a doctor of philosophy, and is an eloquent speaker. He has a wife who will accompany him here.
The Rev. and Mrs. B. Harrison expect to depart from Skagway in about two weeks. They will go to their old home at Caldwell, Id. The Rev. Mr. Harrison will take up a course of special study in New York for the winter. Next year they expect to return to the West, probably the state of Washington.
