Monday, Feb. 19.
A petition of Aaron Tufts and others, praying for a survey of a Canal Route from Boston to Blackstone Canal, and the Connecticut line, was read and committed.
Tuesday, Feb. 20.
The bill in addition to the several acts now in force directing the method of laying out highways, was committed to Messrs. Turner, Sibley, Hoyt, Hobart and Holden.
The bill fixing the compensation of Counsellors, &c. was passed to be engrossed.
Wednesday, Feb. 21.
An additional bill for the regulation of Licensed Houses, was amended, and passed to a third reading. [By the bill licenses are to be granted according to the amount of business done.—If the amount is $100 the license to be $10—If over $100 and not exceeding $700. license to be 15—If not exceeding $1500, $20—not exceeding $2500,$25—and if exceeding $2500, $30.]
Thursday, Feb. 22.
The bill mentioned in the proceedings of the Senate as having passed that branch, also passed the House to be enacted.
A bill providing for the use of Broad Rimmed Wheels, was reported, and ordered to be printed.
The report on the subject of a Rail Way from Boston to the Hudson, and the Resolves accompanying the same, for the appointment of Commissioners to superintend the surveys, were read a first time.
The Committee of Finance, reported a bill providing for a tax on inventories of deceased persons,
A bill to apportion and assess a Tax of $75,000, was reported, which was read twice.
Saturday, Feb. 24.
The Hampshire and Hampden Canal bill, and the Connecticut River bill, were taken up and committed.
A bill in addition to an act for establishing salaries for Judges and Registers of Probate, was reported and read once.
Monday, Feb. 26.
Ordered, That the Committee on Finance be directed to consider the expediency of imposing a duty upon every act which shall be hereafter passed incorporating any company within this Commonwealth.
